Quoteworthy:
People take Matt Serra lightly … In our sport things don’t happen by chance. Luck has nothing to do with it … He’s one of the best fighters I have ever seen in my life. He has huge heart, never quits, he can win a fight at any moment. His jiu-jitsu is unbelievable and his punching power is very strong. He’s a guy that can always surprise someone. It will be a very action-packed fight. I can’t wait to watch.
Renzo Gracie, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and head jits trainer for several of today’s top fighters, talks about preparing Matt Serra for UFC 98 on May 23 against his opposing coach from the sixth season of The Ultimate Fighter, Matt Hughes. The 42-year-old Gracie also reveals a possible return to competition after the opening of two more jiu-jitsu academies in the latter part of 2009 to “any place that is willing to take an old man.” Maybe he can join fellow fortysomething Tom Atencio on the undercard of “Ultimate Chaos” on June 27.
