Carano vs. "Cyborg" booked for five-minute rounds; change not certain for future bouts
The long-awaited confrontation between top 145-pound female fighters
Gina Carano (7-0) and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos (7-1) could potentially
go 25 minutes as Strikeforce officials have confirmed the bout has been
scheduled for five rounds of five-minutes each.

ESPN.com first reported that the Aug. 15 Strikeforce women’s title
fight in San Jose, Calif., would be contested with the same time limits
as the organization’s male title fights, and MMAjunkie.com has since confirmed the decision.

But Strikeforce officials said the decision was made for the Carano
vs. “Cyborg” bout only and that regulations for future female bouts have
not been set.
